In more great education news, especially for students in the north-west, Young Academic can reveal that The University of Bolton is holding two free employment summer schools for graduates from across the region.

The two-day events will be held on August 4-5 and September 7-8. They are open to people who have graduated from University in the last three years. You must have attended a University in the north-west or currently be a north-west resident. The two-day school will bring together some top employers for graduates to meet. These include Warburtons, Enterprise Rent-a-Car and CIS/Co-operative, who all have excellent graduate programmes within their companies.

The employers will be joined by a range of other activities to help boost the graduates’ employability. The first day is based on ‘preparation’ and the workshops will focus on the basics. Topics like CV design, interview skills, employability skills and the labour market will be taught and discussed.

The day after will tackle the area of ‘opportunity awareness’. These workshops will focus on issues like effectively searching for a job through various means, from job shops to recruitment agencies. They will also focus on how to develop your career and how to access the right opportunities in the first place.

Gail Airey works in the University’s Careers Advice Service. She said; ‘This is a great opportunity for recent graduates from across the region to get some solid and free advice from experts and employers.’

Alumni from the University of Bolton will also be attending the summer school and giving talks about their success and how the fellow graduates can reach their goals.

If graduates are still interested in registering for a place on either of the summer schools or want further information on the event, please contact the Careers Service 01204 903 080 or email [email protected]
