Just days after the horrific crash on the M5, a man has died after his lorry toppled on to the M56 from a bridge above in the Cheshire area. Yet again at Young Academic we send our condolences to family and friends of anyone involved with this accident.
At around 3.30pm this afternoon, a HGV lorry carrying household items plunged on to the M56 from a bridge overhead at Junction 11 near Preston Brook. A spokeswoman from North West Ambulance confirmed this afternoon that “one male fatality has been confirmed – the lorry driver sadly died at the scene.”
Surprisingly, no other vehicles were involved in the accident although two drivers are being treated for shock.
“The crew treated just two other people who suffered shock, which is an absolute miracle when you consider that the lorry fell directly onto the carriageway of the motorway.”
The motorway is currently closed in both directions, as is the A56 and they are expected to be for some time. The police are asking any eye witnesses to come forward to help with the investigation.
With the tragedy on Saturday night in Somerset as well as the grim news this morning of the man found dead outside a Chester post office, Young Academic hopes to be able to bring you guys some more positive student news or education news very soon.
