In response to the publication of the Further Education (FE) Workforce Strategy by the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, David Russell, CEO, Education and Training Foundation, says:

“The Foundation welcomes the publication today of the FE Workforce Strategy, and is delighted that the range of generous financial incentives already available to those choosing to teach in our schools have been extended to the education and training sector.

‘These incentives – which include Bursaries of up to £20,000 and, from today, Golden Hellos of up to £10,000 aimed at retaining existing maths teachers within the sector – mean there has never been a better time for able and committed people to come and teach in our sector. Colleges and training providers have a golden opportunity to build teaching capacity and expertise, and to recruit subject specialists who can work with them to boost achievement in the key areas of maths, English and SEND’.

The Education and Training Foundation has been set up to improve standards in the further education and training sector, the Education and Training Foundation sets professional standards and provides support to ensure learners and employers benefit from excellent, relevant education and training.
