Whether we like it or not, we are in the age of the accessory. A mixture of TOWIE, The Only Way Is Essex, Gentrification and the latest generation of hipsters has meant that accessorising is no longer reserved for the cool young ladies of our generation and there is sometimes just us much pressure on the lads to look the part.

The student community is often the best microcosm of society to look at when examining the latest trends and with this in mind, we have put together a quick-fire guide to 5 accessories we can see being the most popular during the forthcoming academic year.

  1. Owl Chain Collar Tips

This cheeky little number from Noose & Monkey caught our attention due to its individual nature and the fact it could well suit one of you well dressed chaps out there. With two owl heads, pin fastening and some striking three chain detail, this one could be a real eye catcher this autumn.

  1. The Yankees SnapBack

Okay this one is hardly new for 2016 but let’s be honest, this gentleman’s accessory is pretty timeless! The Yankees snapback has become synonymous with style and is utterly versatile, looking at home at music festival, out on the town or even on your travels. Expect this one to stick around for years to come!

  1. The Bandana Neckerchief

This lad’s accessory divides opinion but remains popular nonetheless and depending on the look you are going for at University this year, it could really help you to pull some wicked outfits together. You can grab these from the likes of TopMan for as little as a few quid. Winner!

  1. Ridiculously Long Scarves

The Autumn weather will quickly turn into winter this year and what better way to combat the elements than with a mega fashionable long scarve? These have become all the rage over the last few years and 2016/17 is unlikely to be any different. These are pretty much unisex and can be worn with many a get-up this academic year so why not have a browse online?

  1. Slip-Ons

Last but not least in our 5 top gentleman’s accessories for University are slip on shoes. These are thrifty, comfortable and can look great – and were one of the hits of 2015 among the student demographic. You can get these on the high street or online for around £20 and they are also ridiculously comfortable! Why not take a look at the range available from www.asos.com?
