As exam period reaches fever pitch and you guys start to get sick of the site of textbooks and revision notes, Young Academic has found the perfect musical tonic. We strongly suggest that you catch the nine guys that make up the Gentleman’s Dub Club (GDC) as they hit the road this May.

They will also be playing many of the events from the Young Academic Festival Guide this summer, so keep your eyes peeled.

“Dub Be Good to Me – GDC hit the road for their ‘High Grade’ tour in May”

Between hunting, fencing and throwing stones at the windows of Cheltenham Ladies College, the nine rakish chaps who make up orchestral dub/reggae outfit Gentleman’s Dub Club are hitting the trail in May to bring some sax appeal to the towns of England and give UK students the perfect opportunity to let their hair down and experience something quite different.

With smoking jackets and smokin’ guns, GDC aka ‘The Gents’ have forged a reputation for packing out venues and putting on blazing, energetic shows – as well as giving female fans ‘the horn’. Heat magazine and DV8 have already tipped them as ‘ones to watch’ and RWD described their live show as ‘bangin’.

With their Ratpack dress sense and sound system which is part Carnival sound system, part cigar lounge – it’s fair to say the stage belongs to Gentleman’s Dub Club.

Madness, Finley Quaye and Roots Manuva have all tipped their hats to The Gents in the past when they’ve scored support slots and Robbie Williams’ agent himself came all the way to Leeds to scope out the rapscallions before signing them up to X-Ray touring.

As well as their own ‘High Grade’ tour you’ll find GDC coming up trump(et)s at Bestival, plus Glastonbury, Outlook, Glade and many more festivals this Summer.

“We just signed a new deal with our agent it has all stepped up. We have an unspoken ethos in the band; we just try and make every gig more weird and mad than the last. We go absolutely mental” commented singer Johnny.

Catch them live now – before they become very big fish.
