May Design Series 2015: 7th–19th May
From the 17th–19th May 2015, ExCel London will play host to a handpicked selection of leading designers from over 20 countries. A major event in the design and interiors calendar, the May Design Series exhibition showcases the very latest exclusives in furniture, lighting, fabric and other design areas.

Leading London furniture and product design destination, Aram, picks out their standout exhibitors who will be attending the event.

Ruth Aram

The Aldwych No 1 Console, designed by Ruth Aram, will be included in a gallery of British design at this year’s event. The console is part of the Aldwych collection, the first pieces of which were made from reclaimed sweet chestnut wood salvaged from a building in Aldwych opposite Aram Store.

Having worked closely with manufacturers in her role as an Aram Store buyer, the collection was Ruth’s first venture into furniture design. The console’s inclusion into the industry-leading exhibition is a testament to Ruth’s natural flair for design.

Jaime Hayon for LLadro

Creators of handmade porcelain, LLadro, will also be exhibiting at the May Design Series. Of particular note is the brand’s The Guest project, which sees the world’s leading designers invited to design their own character.

Named in Time Magazine’s list of the 100 most relevant creators, artist-designer Jaime Hayon worked collaboratively with American artist, Tim Biskup, and Japanese studio, Devilrobots, on the project, creating the very first versions of the character.

Each limited edition and numbered porcelain figure reflects the artist’s personal universe. This year’s May Design Series is sure to introduce some exquisite character creations to the world.

Rug-Maker.com

Since the brand was established in 1989, Rug-Maker.com has garnered a reputation as a leading designer and manufacturer of exquisite handwoven rugs. Crafted from the finest silk and wool, the brand produces eye-catching contemporary styles.

The collection of rugs by Ptolomy Mann is particularly noteworthy, with her vivid colours and love of geometric patterns setting her apart. Her collection reflects her overwhelming love for both quality and colour, creating a modern yet timeless collection. We can’t wait to see what pieces of hers will be displayed at the exhibition.

If you still haven’t registered your free place for the trade-only event, you can still do so via the May Design Series website. The exhibition is set to unveil a host a number of innovative designs, so it’s certainly not to be missed.
