Young Academic Music News: Elbow burst back onto the scene to end 2010 in style

Merry Christmas from Young Academic guys! We hope you all feel suitably plied with wine, food and pressies. While you have all been chilling out enjoying your Christmas breaks, we at Young Academic towers have been scouring the media world for all the top student news and entertainment gossip.

Elbow – the undisputed Kings of the Manchester music scene – have ended the agony for their fans by releasing a true treat just before New Year in the shape of ‘Lippy Kids’. Taken from their new album, due out in March 2011, this beautifully crafted masterpiece defines what Guy Garvey and co are all about. But who are we to tell you what to think? Check it out for yourself by watching the exclusive video above.

Build a Rocket Boys will be Elbow’s fifth studio album and looks set to confirm the bands status as one of the UK’s most consistent and provocative alternative rock bands. Asleep in the Back, Cast of Thousands, Leaders of the Free World and Seldom Seen Kid have all received critical acclaim and if this video is anything to go by then we can expect more of the same.

As you know, Young Academic is the most buzzing student forum in the UK so please leave your thoughts and comments below and feel free to send any of your music reviews into us at [email protected]
