Young Academic Festival Guide Returns as Exit Announces Acts for 2012

Well, it may not feel like festival season is just around the corner for students around the country as the grin wintry weather drags on and on, but it will be upon us before we know it! As such, the Young Academic Ultimate Festival Guide is back and this year we are aiming to cram in more top events that ever before. The first classic festival to get into our highly acclaimed guide is EXIT, one of the highlights of 2011 and by the looks of the first acts for 2012, it looks like we are in for more of the same.

New Order are one of the initial acts already confirmed for Exit’s infamous for the Main Stage. Born from the ashes of Joy Division, New Order have gone on to establish themselves as one of the most critically acclaimed bands of the last few decades and have undoubtedly influenced the music scene. They fuse rock, pop, electronica and dance music to intriguing effect and the energy of underground clubs has long been dominated by their tunes.

With a string of hits under their belt including the best selling 12” vinyl single of all time –  Blue Monday – New Order’s music never fails to get the party started. For this reason, Young Academic really couldn’t recommend them enough for anyone looking to head to Exit this summer. They will be playing on Friday 13th July so stick that in your phones as it is a dead cert to be a night to remember.

New Order, Buraka Som Sistema, Luciano, Reboot Live, Kenny Larkin, Robert Dietz, Maayan Nidam the first acts to be confirmed for Exit 2012…

So, what other treats are in store at this year’s Exit extravaganza? The Fusion Stage will play host to the returning Buraka Som Sistem. African Kuduro is the theme with these guys as they blend it with modern techno – not to mention their explosive band of dancers and MC’s. Fresh from picking up awards at the MTV European Music Awards, their new album Komba is set to be a real treat.

The epic Exit Festival Dance Arena is also preparing for none other that Luciano, Reboot Live, Kenny Larkin, Robert Dietz and Maayan Nidam for a Cadenza Records showcase, also pencilled in for Friday 13th July – what a night that is set to be!

Anyone familiar with Exit Festival will know only too well how much energy is created in the Dance Arena and all set within the unique atmosphere of a moat and fortress walls. From techno to electro to dirty house to house with a disco twist, the Dance Arena covers all tastes and will keep you dancing all night long.
Reboot is another artist coming back to Exit with another awe inspiring live performance planned from the German DJ. His sets incorporate an eclectic mix of sounds from the minimal to driving electronic-tech vibes and also old school house.

This year, Exit will be taking place from Thursday 12th – Sunday 15th July, in the spell binding Petrovaradin Fortress overlooking the river Danube.
