Bestival Announce Saturday Headliner to Spearhead Stunning Line Up

The Young Academic Ultimate Festival Guide is well and truly in full swing now guys, with the small and intriguing events coming through as well as the big boys! With no Glastonbury this year, the challenge is on for the biggest and best music festival of 2012! With the Olympics, the European Championships and great festivals such as Bestival all going on this summer, we reckon it could be a year to remember. Read on to find out more about the great acts already confirmed for Bestival and much, much more!

Ever since the first line-up announcement at Bestival HQ, this festival has had a magical aura surrounding it. With the truly epic Sigur Rós, The xx, Two Door Cinema Club, Justice, Hot Chip and 2manydjs already confirmed – the gaping hole left by the Glastonbury, the world’s greatest music festival, is looking a bit less depressing.

So, what do the artists think of this year’s Bestival line-up?

“So I’ve got Blue Monday blaring out of the Bestival HQ office speakers as we unveil our iconic Saturday night headliner New Order. It doesn’t get better than that… but it does! True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle, Fine Time, Regret – so many amazing records I grew up listening to and still listen to now and they still sound immense, pioneering, legendary. See you down the front!”  Rob da Bank.

Young Academic can now reveal that the Saturday night will now be headlined by none other than New Order, surely one of the United Kingdom’s most enduring and prolific bands. The guys reformed last year, much to the delight of their loyal fans, complete with Gillian Gilbert back in the outfit following a lengthy absence. This set will surely be anthems galore and for all the students out there too young to remember them, you will be surprised how many tunes you actually love![left_image link=”URL-HERE”]http://www.youngacademic.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/festival-guide-bestival.jpg[/left_image]

Bestival is also proud to announce that it has live appearances from Friendly Fires who will be unleashing their trademark live spectacular in their own inimitably vibrant and widescreen way, Death in Vegas, Django Django, Daughter, Drums of Death and Zulu Winter. So, all you electronic loving students will not be left disappointed.

Daytimes at Bestival also look to be a real treat especially for those more interested in the spoken word. Scroobius Pip’s Lizard Lounge sessions are sure to be real treat – this guy is quickly becoming a festival favourite.

There will be comedy by the bucket load as well. For example, Max and Ivan are Holmes and Watson, history’s greatest detective tackles Chicago’s mobster underworld in this thrilling escapade! Then there is The Unexpected, the creators of the hugely popular YouTube sensation ‘Gap Yah’ followed by Four Screws Loose: officially the tallest sketch comedy group on the circuit!

As night falls at Bestival, attention turns to the silver screen. Organisers have teamed up with leading DJ’s and musicians with a compendium of students’ favourite films and will be offering some brilliantly unique live score cinematic collaborations, led by Rob da Bank who will be performing an unmissable rescoring of the 1930s King Kong original! Not to be missed folks.

That’s not all at Bestival either, there are more headliners to be announced as well as attractions, entertainment and a plethora of extras. Young Academic will be reporting live from this year’s Bestival so make sure you don’t miss a thing by getting our crucial Festival Guide firmly bookmarked! We will also be publishing some more updated prior to the event, but don’t delay in getting your tickets sorted pronto, details below!
